Training Courses

We are highly committed to training and education, delivering robust blended learning programs designed to develop clinical expertise and support improved patient outcomes. Our courses are led by expert faculty with extensive experience in atrial fibrillation and LAA management, and combine high-quality didactic education with hands-on training. Delivered by experienced AF surgeons and electrophysiologists, the curriculum covers a broad range of clinically relevant topics to support real-world practice.

This one-day program is devoted to all aspects of the concomitant surgical treatment of AF. Topics covered include:
• Evidence for surgical AF ablation and the effect on patient outcomes
• Effective treatment strategies based on the underlying pathology
• Surgical techniques using different energy sources to improve the results of concomitant ablation in different types of procedures
• LAA management

You’ll practice different techniques and approaches and perform a complete Maze IV on a cadaver.
Your trainer will provide tips on becoming an effective AF surgeon and show you how to avoid pitfalls in different settings.
At the end of the training program, you’ll be able to discuss upcoming cases with a trainer to identify the right strategy for your patients.

Audience
Cardiac surgeons who have the desire to start an AF program or want to optimize their current practice.

This one-day training is for physicians who, at present, perform minimal access cardiac surgery and are interested in concomitant ablation – either to implement a program or with the desire to optimize current ablation techniques. This dynamic and interactive course features a variety of learning formats.

You will be trained by experts in the field of surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) and LAA Exclusion.

The didactic session covers the following topics:
• Evidence for surgical AF ablation and the effect on patient outcomes.
• Effective treatment strategies based on the underlying pathology.
• Surgical techniques using different energy sources to improve the results of concomitant ablation in different types of procedures.
• LAA Exclusion – Transverse sinus /other minimal access strategies.

In the interactive cadaver lab session, you’ll have the opportunity to practice hands-on various techniques, performing and managing the left atrial appendage using the AtriClip device, all within the context of minimal access approaches. At the end of the training, you will be able to discuss upcoming cases with the faculty.

Audience

This half-day Hybrid AF™ Therapy Program is led by AtriCure’s Professional Education team. The comprehensive program includes both a didactic presentation and the opportunity to perform Hybrid Approach cases in a beating heart specimen model to provide a comprehensive hands-on experience.

Please contact [email protected] or your local AtriCure representative to register your interest.

The specialized curriculum is designed to learn procedural techniques using AtriCure’s simulation model.
Led by the Prof Ed team, these sessions are customisable to your training needs.

Topics include:
• Subxiphoid (with OR setup)
• All Box Clamp techniques
• Total Thoracoscopic Maze
• Thoracoscopic LAA Exclusion
• Ligament of Marshall ablation
• Transverse Sinus ‘Roof Line’ ablation

At the end of this program, you will be able to discuss how to start a Hybrid AF™ Therapy Program at your hospital and
how to proceed with your first scheduled cases.

Audience
Cardiac surgeons and electrophysiologists who want to implement Hybrid AF™ Therapy.

This course will be offered by request, available year round to accommodate your team’s needs.

In collaboration and endorsed by EACTS, this one-day course is designed to inform and educate allied health professionals, including but not limited to nurses, physician assistants, surgical care practitioners, and EP clinic nurses, in all aspects related to the surgical and hybrid treatment of atrial fibrillation. By attending this course, you will gain the knowledge and expertise needed to treat AF patients.

You will be trained by expert physicians and advanced practitioners in the areas of pre-, peri-, and post-hybrid/ surgical care, who will present didactic sessions in the morning supported by AtriCure’s Professional Education team.

In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to practice the techniques learned on AtriCure’s simulation models in the Amsterdam simulation suite. You will perform open bi-atrial Maze concomitant ablation, Hybrid ablation, and thoracoscopic left atrial appendage exclusion.

At the end of the course, you’ll be able to discuss treatment options for your upcoming clinical cases with a trainer to identify the right strategy for your patients.

Audience
Allied health professionals, including but not limited to nurses, physician assistants, surgical care practitioners, and EP clinic nurses interested in AF treatment.

This one-day, interactive program is designed for clinicians involved in the diagnosis, referral, and treatment of patients
experiencing chronic thoracic pain, with a particular focus on cryo nerve block (cryoNB) for perioperative pain management and enhanced recovery pathways. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the role of regional analgesia in cardiothoracic surgery and how coordinated, multidisciplinary care can improve patient outcomes.

You will learn from a faculty of experts in perioperative medicine, pain management, thoracic surgery, and anaesthesia, combining evidence-based teaching with practical insights from real-world clinical pathways.

The didactic session covers the following topics:
• The burden of chronic thoracic pain and its impact on recovery
• Mechanisms of action and clinical evidence for cryoNB.
• Identifying and selecting appropriate patients for cryoNB
• Integrating cryoNB into ERAS pathways and multidisciplinary care models
• Workflow considerations, consent, documentation, and best practices for implementation

In the hands-on session, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in practical demonstrations of the cryo nerve block technique, including anatomical landmark identification, procedural setup, and device handling. Interactive case reviews will allow you to discuss specific clinical scenarios with faculty and explore how cryoNB can be applied within your own practice.

Faculty
You will be trained by a multidisciplinary faculty with expertise in cryoanalgesia, perioperative pain management, and thoracic surgery.
